"J"
A true story of a Scout in times of War, by Piet J Kroonenberg

The Story of "J" is excitingly written by author and World Scout Historian Piet J Kroonenberg. It is illustrated with photographs and maps and the story is set in its time with background information on world events which happened at the same time as the events which happened to "J".

The article is a long one - the longest that Scouting Milestones has yet published - and the time it takes to download may be long.

With a Broadband connection or an ISDN line the Page, under ideal conditions, could take over two minutes to load.

For modems with a maximum speed of 56K or slower, the article can be accessed in three separate sections, each one with a much shorter loading time. Click on the links below to open each section of the story. At the end of each Part is a link to the next one.

Part I - Introduction, Prologue, Mobilisation, Invasion, Occupation and Deception
Part II - 'D-Day', 'Market-Garden', Escape!, Behind the Frontlines and Crossing the Rhine
Part III - Going Home, In Garrison, Back to Normal and Postscript
